What is meant by PLC? Where it is applied and its features. How to do Industry Automation? PLC என்றால் என்ன? அது எங்கு எப்படி பயன்படுகிறது ?

In today’s world of automation there would be hardly any person that isn’t rely on technology. There was a time when we used to wonder that one day everyone is going to have his own mobile phone. Now we all know what mobile phone means to us. We can’t even imagine our life without it. Then the time started to get more advanced and we made much more advanced machines. One of them is PLC which seems to be a small invention but have revolutionized  the manufacturing and commercial industry in many ways.

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

Stands for Programmable Logic Controllers, PLC is also known as programmable controllers. It is an industrial computer that has been ruggedized and adapted for the control of manufacturing processes, such as assembly lines, machines, robotic devices or any other devices that require high reliability.

Dick Morley is considered as the father of PLC. In 1966 Dick Morley made it’s first PLC , known as the Modicon 084 for the General Motor company. This PLC system consists of many inputs and outputs and can be designed for many arrangements. These PLC’S are made ruggedized which means they are made to suffer high temperature, loads etc. The PLC was firstly developed in the automobile industry to provide rugged, flexible and easily programmable controllers to replace hard wired relay logic systems. These PLC’s are the example of hard realtime system since output result must be produced in response to input conditions within a limited time.

Some important applications of PLC systems.

·       Road traffic signals.

·       Automatic car wash.

·       Elevators.

·       Automatic doors .

·       Conveyer belts.

·       Roller coasters.

Main manufacturing companies of PLC.

·       SIEMENS.

·       ALLEN BRADLEY.

·       ABB Ltd.

·       Omron.

·       Mitsubishi electric.

·       MODICON.

·       Schneider electric.

·       Rockwell automation.

Which language is used in PLC?

Ladder logic diagram is the most commonly used programming language used for PLC. Not only this but other languages like instruction list, function block diagram, structured text, sequential function charts.

You must’ve seen on discovery channel’s the famous show food factory or any other show like that. In this show we saw factories of your favourite food items. In the factory we have seen Conveyor belts. Those are also made up of PLC’s. Not only those conveyers the things we usually saw on roads like the traffic light signals those are also made using this. This seems to be simple but isn’t that simple. It’s processing very complex that not anybody can command them. Am person having some knowledge can only command PLC system. These PLC’s may cost in thousands and in lakhs normally. So they aren’t used usually. Due to its high cost we only get to see it in some places.

Thank you for reading this amazing article about PLC patiently and till the end. We hope you liked it and shared with your friends. Please make sure to visit our other articles like this. Leave us a comment if you heard it earlier

Thank you.

Hydroponics என்றால் என்ன? அது எதற்கெல்லாம் பயன்படுகிறது? What is hydroponics and where it is applied?

Attapady – A overview of a Hill Village to have travel experience at Tamilnadu Kerala border

Coimbatore is a Manchester of South India and it is located at the foothills of the Queen of Mountains (Nilgiri). It is surrounded by Rivers, Ponds and Agro Fields and it one of the few cities across globe which has a pleasant atmosphere to live in. Further the outskirts of Coimbatore is surrounded by Valparai Hills and Coconut farms at the one side and Kerala – the god’s own country at the other side. There are multiple places to visit around Coimbatore and this blog is about an adventure trip around Coimbatore.  I just wanted to experience some adventure so without clue I started travelling to Karamadai, a place close to the Niligiri foothills, to visit the village called Baralikadu to experience river boating and village fooding. As the day I travelled is in between the week and I was informed by the forest department that the program is only planned on weekends. So without frustration I have started to travel further and reached a placed called Tholampalayam, where I have a...

What is Castable Refractory? Where it is applied? What are the applications?

Castable Refractory is the High temperature refractory materials that are made up from rare earth minerals. These castable refractory are composites of Minerals and Oxides of the Minerals. The materials are primarily extracted from the mines as ores and are processed for the end use application. Typically extracted from mines, which possess a characteristic as a barrier for thermal conduction. Basically serves as Thermal Insulators and thus enacts fuel saving.  Heat is the fundamental source of energy for most of process, either in domestic or industrial segment. The most commonly used heat applications in domestic segment is Cooking, Room Heating, Ironing, Hot Water and Drying. In the Industrial segment, it has varied applications in most of the Industries widely as Boilers, Furnace and Dryers. The amount of heat energy consumption is almost equal to the consumption of electricity for any industry and typically we use 1/3rd of our energy utilization as Thermal energy. Fuels like F...
