Arduino
is basically an open source hardware and software company, project and user community
that designs and manufactures single board micro controllers and microprocessors
kits for digital devices. This Arduino project was started in the year 2005 for
the students at interaction design institute Ivrea, Italy, aiming to provide
low cost and easy way for the novices and professionals to create the devices
that interacts with the environment using sensors and actuators. It’s hardware
devices are licensed CC BY-SA License and software is licensed by GNU, Genaral
Public License (LGPL) or General Public License (GPL).
These
Arduino boards are used for various purposes like robots , home automation,
other major and minor projects. So he basic idea behind Arduino was to provide
cheap and easily available computers for the students for education purposes .

educational purposes.
The
operating system of the Arduino boards consists of XINU and talking about the CPU
– Amtel AVR (8bit) ARM Cortex M3 (32 bit)Intel Quark (×86) (32 bit). It
consists of SRAM memory . Flash EEPROM memory storage is being used in it.
Arduino board can be programmed using the C+ and C++ language , using a
standard API which is known as the Arduino language. This board features serial
communication interfaces, including, universal serial Bus on some models.
